Application to become a Swiss Doctor

Before you apply, check whether working as a volunteer doctor abroad is the right thing for you: Would you like to volunteer in a humanitarian, medical aid organisation? Are you motivated for a challenging assignment in which you help people who otherwise would not be able to afford a visit to the doctor? Do you have 6 weeks to get involved on site? Do you fulfil all the requirements?

If you are interested, please contact the department for operational planning of our German partner by e-mail: einsatzplanung@german-doctors.de

You will receive a link to register in the deployment planning system (EPS), where you can enter your qualifications and personal details. Shortly afterwards, you will receive authorisation to apply. After activation, you will have the opportunity to apply for three assignment periods in your desired project.

Acceptance or rejection

Our department for assignment planning will then contact you either to accept or reject your application. Whether or not we accept you depends primarily on the requirements of our projects. You will receive both the acceptance or rejection approximately 6 to 10 months before the start of the assignment.

Preparation

Once you have been accepted for the assignment, you will immediately receive further information on the necessary documents, preparation seminars, the project and the Swiss and German Doctors guidelines.

The planning and coordination of the missions is handled by our partner organisation German Doctors in Bonn. Can I apply for a specific project?

Yes, but the chances to offer you a suitable time slot increase if you are open to several or all projects.

You are welcome to get an idea of our projects online.

What does the application cost?

Nothing, the application is free of charge and you are also not obliged to donate the assignment fee as a Swiss Doctor. However, most Swiss Doctors want to contribute to the costs and therefore donate their assignment fee before their mission. The exact amount varies depending on the project region.

When will I receive feedback on my application?

You will receive acceptance or rejection 6 to 10 months before the start of your assignment.
