Emergency aid for the Ukraine

Repeated attacks on energy production and dwellings, healthcare facilities, and schools – this war is a catastrophe for the people living in the Ukraine. We provide help in regions which have been especially hard hit and support people who cannot manage alone, like ill and aged individuals, men and women requiring nursing care, and mothers.

Medikamente für die Ukraine

Merciless war

Bombed electricity, water, and gas supplies, damaged dwellings, torn-up streets and train tracks  - the attacks by the Russian army devastate entire regions in the Ukraine, and the longer the war lasts, the more people suffer. The limited medical provision is especially drastic because too many people are injured and need treatment.

The United Nations estimates that about 5.6 million Ukrainians are fleeing withing their country. These individuals need accommodations, which are often emergency quarters that are wholly inadequate to take in handicapped people or whose who require nursing care.  Therefore, it is the weakest who have to hold out in war areas. In many places there is hardly any food.

As a medical organization, we, together with our partners on site, provide support where help is most urgently needed. Our priority is the provision of healthcare, but when it is necessary to help people survive winter conditions, that is also our task. Our highest goal is to relieve human suffering.

Medical provision is becoming increasingly critical – we help

In the context of war, the number of those who must be medically treated naturally increases. At the same time, basic medical provision is severely limited in the entire Ukraine – medicaments and medical supplies are lacking. Medical facilities have been destroyed, and there are interruptions in the supply chain. Fewer state financial resources are available for hospitals because these are being used for the military defence of the country.

We distributed more than 1,100 medical kits with urgently needed medicaments after the Ukraine military recaptured Cherson. Urgently needed medication for pain, colds, fever, and diarrhoea, as well as material for wound treatment, were provided at distribution sites in the entire city.

We thank everyone who supports our important work in this emergency situation!

Donate a first-aid kit

A donation of 50 francs provides five urgently needed first-aid kits for patients in the hospitals we support in the Ukraine. Medicaments and medicinal material are urgently needed!

We help: food, water, hygiene

Not everyone can or wants to flee from crisis regions. The availability of e.g., food and hygiene articles for people in our project region in eastern Ukraine is catastrophic! Water provision is no longer intact or completely interrupted.

We provide comprehensive help. We have distributed water, food, and hygiene articles to about 25,000 especially needy persons in eastern Ukraine since February 2023. Above all, older people, pregnant women, families without any means of income, and single mothers are especially dependent on this help.  We combat water deficiency with clean drinking water in canisters in the Donezk region. In Dnipro we provide 600 families with packages containing enough essential foodstuffs to last a month.

55 francs provides a family with an emergency package of foodstuffs for a month

A home for individuals requiring nursing care

Older, ill, and handicapped people are especially hard hit in wartimes.  They often cannot flee because transport on a stretcher or in a wheelchair is difficult. If they do manage to flee, there is hardly any appropriate place for them to stay. Society’s weakest members must remain in war-torn areas, often with their relatives, where they and their caretakers are in acute danger.

Our partner converted a building in Kalusch in southwestern Ukraine into a nursing home with the appropriate equipment and furnishings to help especially afflicted persons. 50 to 60 individuals could already find protection here in summer, 2023. Our local partner on site is the foundation Vostock SOS.
