Fighting female genital mutilation sustainably
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), more than 200 million women and girls are affected by female genital mutilation. An estimated 3 million girls are at risk every year. Female genital mutilation is a widespread practice in Africa in particular - but the number of those affected is also rising in European countries due to increasing migration. This makes the fight against the brutal circumcision of women and girls a global issue. Also Swiss Doctors is committed to fighting female genital mutilation in the long term.
